This site is under construction.

It will serve to provide a kind of FAQ to anybody who is married or is thinking about getting married, with a focus on the consequences of getting divorced without a pre-nuptial agreement. When people get married, they never think about divorce. Worse, when handed a marriage license there is no information provided with it. Parents are made aware of parenting classes. People who get a driver’s license have to pass an exam. You even get a little brochure from medical offices that provide information to you about various conditions. But none of that happens when you get married. Unless you go out of your way to ask, you’ll never know what could happen if or when your marriage ends.

I was recently divorced – and I was very surprised to find out some things that I hadn’t known about at all. When I got married I never thought I would get divorced. I also thought that my wife at the time felt the same way I did about the institution and what would happen if it ever ended. I could have saved myself a lot of grief if I’d only been handed an information pamphlet with the facts along with my marriage license. I may get involved with lobbying the government to provide something like this. In the meantime, I’m creating this website. Although I live in Ontario, Canada – and my own contributions will be for this part of the world – I’m happy to also provide information about other places too.
